They both were in a room and Alan got some good facts about Google. One fact was: The name 'Google' was an accident. (January 13, 2005) - A project manager at Google (GOOG: news, chart, profile) spoke at a Silicon Valley meeting Wednesday and said the addition of a "Did you mean" feature to Google's search page had instantly doubled usage of the site. Marissa Mayer also told the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of ACM SIGCHI the "I feel lucky" button is rarely used. In trials, though, it was found that removing that option would compromise "the Google experience," Alan Williamson reported on his blog.
